El alejamiento ocurre justo antes de la llegada del nuevo director nacional del SII, Jorge Trujillo. El ingeniero fue elegido por el gobierno de José Antonio Kast para liderar la institución. Trujillo, que hasta su nombramiento se desempeñaba en el mundo privado, también ocupó con anterioridad el cargo de director de la DGC.
